The glacial lake of Nino
Description
Positive elevation: 693m / Negative elevation: 693m Level: OOOOOOO
Lake Nino, bordered by the famous GR20, peaks at an altitude of 1743m in the center of Corsica. Nestled in the heart of the Niolu valley above Cortenais, it is the second largest lake in Corsica after Betaniella, with an area of 6.5 hectares. It is also the source of the Tavignanu river, the second most important river in Corsica. This glacial lake owes its reputation to the beautiful and fragile lawns dotted with water holes which surround it, the pozzines. Its surroundings are permanently occupied by numerous animals such as wild horses, cows or pigs.
