Bavella, the Bomb Hole

Hanging on the horizon, the granite needles of Bavella sometimes seem to extend beyond the sky. We will start the hike through a magnificent larriciu pine forest. Objective of the walk: Trou de la Bombe. A huge hole 8 meters in diameter created by natural erosion from wind and rain. The Corsican name of this site “u tafonu di u Cumpuleddu” however has nothing to do with its French-speaking name, since “u cumpuleddu” means “the sheep enclosure” and recalls that the place was once a refuge for shepherds.

What to plan
- Closed lace-up hiking shoes with good ankle support and notched soles
- A backpack with at least 1.5L of water, a picnic and some small snacks
- Clothing suitable for hiking
- A waterproof windbreaker and a fleece
- Depending on the season, effective sun protection: hat or cap, sunglasses, sunscreen
